The Yulong River is a branch of the Li River.  It got its name from an ancient story about a scholar trying to get to Beijing.  This scholar was on his way to Beijing for his exam when he got to the area it had rained so much the entire valley was flooded and he could go not further.  He waited for 3 days and nights in hopes they the water would go down.  Suddenly the sky turned from blue to yellow and a dragon flew down and drank the water.  What he left became the Yulong river and he because the bridge over it.  So the scholar was able to continue his journey to Beijing.

It is possible to take a full day tour along the river by bicycle and see many sights.  Some of the things you will see are the Yulong Bridge, Fuli Bridge, Dragon Bridge, Jiuxian village and Yi Ma village.  You will also be able to go to nearby Moon Hill, Big Banyan tree and the water caves.  You can also take a leisurely bamboo raft ride on the river.
